Rosita visits Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to speak to students about Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray. Thanks to Dr. Yvette Thomasson, Professional School Counselor for the invitation. Rosita introduces the high school students and staff to Pauli Murray using the award winning documentary, "My Name is Pauli Murray".

Rosita is invited to speak on the Living Legacy Project (LLP) webinar as part of their 2024 Education Series. “Who Knew?: Civil Rights Activists Who Led the Movement from Behind the Scenes” focuses on the story of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray and is moderated by The Rev. Laura Ingersol, LLP Board Member and features Angela Thorpe Mason, Executive Director of the Pauli Murray Center, along with Rosita.
Durham Public Schools Professional Development Session
Rosita Stevens-Holsey travels to Durham to speak to educators and librarians with Durham Public Schools (DPS) during a Professional Development session. Rosita discusses the life and legacy of her aunt, Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray and introduces her book (co-authored by Terry Catasús Jennings), “Pauli Murray: The Life of a Pioneering Feminist & Civil Rights Activist”. Charlene Martin-Klein, K-12 Social Studies Specialist with DPS invited Rosita to speak at the session.

Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice Grand Opening, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. EST
Please join us at Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray's childhood home from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at 906 Carroll Street, Durham, North Carolina for the grand opening of the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. Her home is a National Historic Landmark and a National Treasure. There are only 39 NHL sites located in the state of North Carolina. As of May 2024 there are 2,600 national historic landmarks in the United States of America. Enjoy songs, a poetry hour, benedictions, community tabling, listen to excerpts from Pauli’s writings and oral histories, a community concert and remarks from family members, local officials and PMC leadership.

National Women’s History Alliance “Women’s Equality Day Celebration” Webinar
Join the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA) as we celebrate Women’s Equality Day. Rosita, NWHA’s Executive VP, introduces the 2025 Women’s History Month Theme, "Moving Forward Together: Women Educating & Inspiring Generations". Since 1987 the National Women's History Alliance has created the annual theme. Many corporations, government agencies, military departments, organizations and groups often use our theme for their events each year.
Private Tour of Murray-Massenburg Elementary School
Rosita attends a private tour of Durham Public Schools new site, Murray-Massenburg Elementary School. The tour is held for family members of the school’s namesakes. This school was named for Pauli Murray and Betty Massenburg. We expect Murray and Fitzgerald members to proudly attend.

iWitness: Media & the Movement Exhibit Grand Opening, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, Baltimore, Maryland
Rosita travels to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture to view the opening of the exhibit “iWitness: Media & the Movement: Civil Rights Through Radio, Television, Photography & the Press”. Rosita collaborated with Robert Parker, Chief Curator & Director of Interpretation, Collections and Education at the Museum to loan two items (two early writings of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray) for the exhibit.
Pauli Murray’s Gravesite Visit
For the 50th Anniversary of women's ordination to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church, Rosita travels with the organization, Black Episcopal Clergywomen and their Allies to Cypress Hills Cemetery to lay flowers on Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray’s grave where she is laid to rest along with her partner, Irene Barlow, her two aunts, Pauline Fitzgerald Dame, Sarah Fitzgerald Small, and Irene's mother, Mary Barlow. Rev. Cheryl Parris will lead a brief service at the gravesite and Rosita will offer remarks, as well.
Celebrating the Life & Ministry of the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray at St. Thomas Episcopal Church
For the 50th Anniversary of women's ordination to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church, Rosita travels to Brooklyn to join members of the organization, Black Episcopal Clergywomen and their Allies to commemorate the occasion at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray is honored not only because of women’s ordination to the priesthood but because she was the first Black female priest in the Episcopal Church. The event will include a homily by Rosita with a luncheon to follow.

Rosita Stevens-Holsey travels to Cortland, New York to one of her alma maters, State University of New York (SUNY) - Cortland to receive a 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award for her varied and colorful career, specifically for her work uplifting the legacy of her aunt, Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray.
Forces for Change: Mary McLeod Bethund and Black Women’s Activism
Rosita travels to National Museum of African American History and Culture to view the exhibit, “Forces for Change: Mary McLeod Bethund and Black Women’s Activism” at the NMAAHC in Washington DC. Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray is part of this exhibit. The Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice has loaned the NMAAHC early editions of Pauli Murray’s written works to be displayed in this exhibit through 2026.
Celebrate the Life and Work of the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray with the Diocese of Indianapolis
Rosita travels to Indianapolis for Aunt Pauli's Feast Day celebration, invited by Deacon Cathy Scott of The Episcopal Church of All Saints. The Racial Justice and Education Team of Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis and The Episcopal Church of All Saints will celebrate on June 29th at 3:00 p.m. Rosita will speak at 3:00 p.m. with a Liturgy at 4:00 p.m. Reception to follow. The Union of Black Episcopalians hosted a luncheon prior to the event at St. Philips Episcopal Church.
